While we are waiting for Paul Ryan to get his act together, it is nice to see the President doing what he can do to deliver on his promises and make America great again. Today in an exclusive interview inside the White House, Trump described his first 100 days and made remarks on trade and policy. Trump seems happy with his progress but admitted he did not expect the amount of work that comes with being president. While the democrats will love that line, people should appreciate the humor and honesty Trump exhibits, unlike the last few presidents. In the interview, Trump acknowledged that the US-Korea trade deal, or Korus, negotiated by Hillary Clinton, the Secretary of State at the time the deal was made, is not fair for America. The current trade deficit with Korea is an enormous 27 billion dollars. After threatening to pull out of NAFTA and successfully getting Canada and Mexico to agree to renegotiating the deal, it looks as though Trump is moving on to his next target. The designated time that was set for revising and continuing Korus is coming up this year. Already, the economic council team of Korea has stated they are not willing to make changes. Trump says he will withdraw from the trade deal altogether if South Korea keeps this attitude. According to Trump, America could pull out of Korus in a matter of days, not months, the time it would take to pull out of NAFTA. This is exactly the kind of thinking America needs. The time for letting our allies walk all over us is over. Approaching his 100 day mark, Trump seems to be changing strategies. While he originally wanted to get moving in Congress with health care and taxes, the pace of Congress, lead by Paul Ryan, has proven too slow for him. Now, Trump has moved on to promises he can get started, like protecting America from unfair trade deals and policies. Already, the Trump Administration has also suggested revising America's trade deal with Japan. It's nice to see Trump focusing on one of the key policies he was elected on. Hopefully, some things get done while the Republican controlled congress moves ahead at this current pathetic pace.
